AZ Golf: $6 Billion with 2% Water
In 2021, Arizona’s golf industry produced $6 billion in economic activity while only using 2% of daily statewide water to serve 16.6 million golf rounds. This supported nearly 66,200 jobs, provided $2.3 billion in wages and generated $518 million in state and local tax revenues.

First Tee of Phoenix student shares passion for golf
One day Ashley Shaw’s dad bought her clubs and told her to have fun. Since then, she’s been a member of The First Tee of Phoenix where she not only learned how to play, she learned the lessons golf teaches. She now introduces others to the game while dreaming of a professional career.
As one of the few outdoor activities deemed safe from the spread of COVID-19 in 2020, golf courses in the United States hosted 50 million more golf rounds than the previous year. And, due to motorized golf cars being put on the shelf because of strict distancing regulations, more and more golfers returned to the natural state of the game and began walking the fairways again.
Charitable causes and the game of golf go hand in hand – so much so that you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who considers themselves a golfer who hasn’t had the opportunity to play in at least one charity golf event. The Arizona Alliance for Golf understands the impact of the game extends far beyond individual golf courses.
