AZ Golf:  $6 Billion with 2% Water

In 2021, Arizona’s golf industry produced $6 billion in economic activity while only using 2% of daily statewide water to serve 16.6 million golf rounds. This supported nearly 66,200 jobs, provided $2.3 billion in wages and generated $518 million in state and local tax revenues.

Arizona’s warm winter weather draws 3.7 million golfers to the Grand Canyon State each year. This amounts to a $6 billion impact – $3 billion of which is out-of-state dollars – and 40,000 local jobs. Golf drives economic activity while only using 2% of the state’s water. This favorable arrangement makes the golf industry one of the most important to Arizona tourism and those who depend on it, whether they play golf or not.
