The “Arizona Midday” program recently explored one of the most exciting developments in Arizona’s thriving golf nonprofit community: the Arizona Golf House. Located at Papago Golf Club, the facility serves as the hub for golf in the state, connecting all the life-enhancing values of the game with the local community like never before.
Host Rachel Cole sat down with Katie Prendergast, Executive Director of the Arizona Alliance for Golf, for a tour and conversation about making golf accessible for everyone. The Arizona Golf House brings together nonprofits like First Tee – Phoenix and LPGA*USGA Girls Golf – Phoenix under one roof, supporting programs for children as young as three all the way to lifelong players.
“We really believe that golf is good for everyone whether or not you play or not,” said Prendergast. “It touches people’s lives in profound ways, whether it’s property values, filling hotel rooms, providing green open space to mitigate heat island effects, and it provides 66,000 jobs here in the state.”
The segment also addressed water stewardship, noting the golf industry uses just 2% of Arizona’s total water while delivering $6 billion in economic impact. With ongoing innovations in reclaimed water, drought-tolerant turf, and smart technology, Arizona’s courses continue leading in sustainability.
Whether you’re looking to start playing, get your kids involved, volunteer, or simply enjoy the facility, the Arizona Golf House welcomes everyone.
