Golf, of course, is a powerful driver of Arizona’s tourism economy. The Arizona Office of Tourism recently released data setting a new record for total tax revenue generated by tourism-driven economic activity at a record $4.2 billion, comprising local, state and federal taxes. Statewide tourism grew across the board with visitations up 1.7%, visitor spending up 4.3% and tourism jobs up 4.4%.

Another report released in 2023 by the Rounds Consulting Group further confirms golf as the heartbeat of Arizona tourism. It revealed that in 2021 the golf industry generated $518 million in tax revenue and created 66,200 jobs which earned $2.3 billion in wages. That year 2.4 million domestic overnight visitors to Arizona reported playing golf during their visit, and on average, golf travelers spend 2.9 times more while in town.
