The Arizona Alliance for Golf’s Executive Director, Katie Prendergast, dropped by the AZ Family/CBS 5 studios for an interview highlighting the grand opening of the Arizona Golf House at Papago Golf Club.

“The Arizona Golf House represents the hub of golf here in Arizona,” she explained. “It is a first-of-its-kind, collaborative facility that brings together all of the nonprofits that are serving kids throughout the valley, combined with the association for all recreational golfers, over 100,000 here in Arizona; the agronomists who expertly managed less than 2% of the water that golf courses use; the people that teach and run golf courses; all unified and collaborating in this brand new facility at Papago Golf Course.”

A gathering spot for more than just golfers, Prendergast said that it’s a great place to “have a glass of wine with friends. There’s young professionals after work. There’s retirees having breakfast, so it’s become this incredible gathering spot for the whole community.”

Prendergast touched on golf’s unique appeal for all age groups, pointing out that “you can start at such a young age, and you can play all the way through your entire life. The nonprofits at Papago are starting children as young as three years old and introducing them to golf, but not just the actual activity, but all of the life skills and the personal development that you learn through playing the game.”
