Released November 2023, “A Call to Action: Expanding the Economic Impact of the Sports Industry in Arizona” was prepared by the Rounds Consulting Group for the Arizona Chamber Foundation to gauge the economic impact of sporting events on the Grand Canyon State.
The primary conclusions: “The sports industry plays a significant role in the state’s economy; the economic benefits can be expanded with the efficient funding of select programs and enhanced statewide with further coordination between the various sports-related entities.”
In fact, according to their calculations, the WM Phoenix Open, in 2022 alone, contributed the equivalent of nine, 100-employee, high-wage firms with its $450 million economic impact.
