The local golf community is once again celebrating the accomplishments of Ashley Shaw. The high school senior from Litchfield Park recently captured the girls’ title at the 2026 First Tee National Championship, held in late June in North Carolina.
A Standout Supported by Arizona’s Junior Golf Network
Her determination, talent, and ever-growing list of victories reflect a razor-sharp golf game. Equally important to her success is her deep involvement with Arizona’s vibrant network of nonprofit golf organizations. These groups have helped her fully harness her passion for the game. Shaw is a longtime participant with First Tee – Phoenix, Desert Mashie Golf Club, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona, the National Golf Players Development Foundation, and USGA*LPGA Girls Golf – Phoenix, among others.
“A Phenomenal Experience”
“Playing in the First Tee National Championship was a phenomenal experience,” Shaw said. “Having the chance to play in North Carolina for the first time and on such a beautiful golf course was an experience I’ll never forget. First Tee is something I’ve been a part of since I was eight years old and it has given me so many opportunities to grow with the game. I can’t wait to see how the next generation of First Tee kids will continue to grow and be amazing ‘Game Changers.’”
More Than a Game: Life Lessons Through Golf
The grow-the-game movement has been building momentum for decades, and now is an ideal time for juniors of all ages and abilities to get engaged in golf. As Shaw can attest, the sport offers far more than fresh air and sunshine. It teaches valuable life lessons that serve young people well into adulthood — regardless of where they finish on the leaderboard. From earning college scholarships to building lifelong friendships, golf is truly a game for a lifetime. It allows kids to play with friends, parents, and grandparents today — and, in time, with their own children and grandchildren.
Building Confidence, Character, and Resilience

Next Stop: University of Georgia
Shaw is verbally committed to play collegiate golf at the University of Georgia, where she will join the Bulldogs women’s golf program. The entire Arizona golf community will be cheering her on every step of the way — from Athens and beyond.
